Florence was a special place for us because we were sharing the experience with four friends from the UK who had come out to join us. The Duomo here is the most amazing one we saw - stunning infact. We climbed the camponile (tower) without any of us needing resuscitating and had a great view of Florence. We posed by Michaelangelo's famous David statue and walked over the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge. We toured the huge Uffizi art gallery but by this time we were almost "arted out" and very tired! The best food of the whole trip was in a restaurant near the Duomo - it was divine and yes, they did vegetarian food so we were all happy! Matthew managed to have a 10 Euro ice cream here ($100HK) and eat it before Howard stole any.
It actually kept Matthew quite for about 10 minutes! Ha ha Our day trip to Pisa was excellent. A dream come true for Roger and I. Climbing the leaning tower and being at the top was a different experience - it really does lean and walking up it means you walk at an angle. You have to do it to really appreciate it - wierd!
Pisa was most definitely a memorable day out!
The beautiful Duomo.
View from the top of the Dome! It was alot of steps up!
Michaelangelo's famous David statue.
Here we all are before we climbed to the top of the tower. It was a wierd climb up because of the slope! At the top it was pretty scary too......
How many people does it take to hold up the leaning tower? Answer: if it's me (Sarah) or Howard only one but the other guys are a bit weaker! hee hee.
Pisa was a really great day out.
One of the many wishing wells. I wonder if my wish will come true?
