Macau is a 50 minute ferry ride from Hong Kong and is an in interesting place for a day out. Architecture is predominantly Portuguese, shopping is cheaper and more relaxed without the crowds and the people, quite noticably, different. Mainland Chinese are frequent visitors to the many casinos that operate here.
Senado Square is the main place to head to for the many boutique-style shops that line the meandering alley-ways that all seem to end up leading to the impressive "St. Paulo's Facade" which stands prominently atop a small hill.
