Verona and Lake Garda

Our last city stop was Verona. We had a little adventure here just locating our hotel. It was the best hotel we had stayed in but in the worst location. It meant a 30 minute bus ride into town!!!! Verona had more of the same views, arena's and churches but for me the best part was visiting Casa di Giulietta. I got to do the whole balcony scene but try as I might, I couldn't find Romeo! Guess I will make do with Roger then! There was a wall of love messages that has obviously been going for some time and a love register/book to sign in as well! A highlight was the open air opera in the old arena...we sat on wet (it had rained) stone steps that dated back gazillions of years beneath the stars to watch Tosca- another tale of fatal love and feuding men- I guess the world's the same all over!.
"Roger, Oh, Roger, where for art thou, Roger? Yes this is Juliet's house and balcony! But no sign of Romeo when you need him!
Juliet's tomb.
A performance of Pucini's "Tosca" in the arena was amazing.
 Lake Garda
Lake Garda meant time to relax (at last). We cruised around the southern part of the lake (it really is a massive one!) and got half a day sunbathing on a pebble beach. Sirmione was perhaps one of the nicest surprises we had with its medieval castle and peaceful environs.
